Old Czech
Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Slavic *moťì. Instead of the 2nd and 3rd person present forms, the form móž is sometimes used and is said to have originated from the PIE optative (from which Slavic imperatives also evolved). This form also resulted in other forms that do not contain thematic "e" (such as móžta, móžme/móžmy, móžte). Compare chtieti whose present forms are also said to be derived from the PIE optative.
