According to Hauptfleisch (2001:170), events such as the Little Karoo Festival, eventify occasions in a fashion similar to the ancient festivals by turning an "[...] everyday life event (performing a play, a concerto, a dance, exhibiting a painting, a sculpture, an installation) [...] into a significant Cultural Event, framed and made meaningful by the presence of an audience [...] who will respond to the celebrated event."
