Etymology
Possibly from Proto-Sabaki *-elela (“to be clear”), in which case by surface analysis, -elea (“to be clear”) + -vu, but the -l- turning into an -r- is unexplained. Compare Giryama -elevu, which seems cognate but shows -l- where -r- would have been expected.
