Borrowed from French cornage, from Latin cornū (“horn”) + -age.

cornage (countable and uncountable, plural cornages)

1. A feudal tax levied on horned cattle.
2. (historical, law) An ancient tenure of land, which obliged the tenant to give notice of an invasion by blowing a horn.
