consumerize (third-person singular simple present consumerizes, present participle consumerizing, simple past and past participle consumerized)

1. (transitive) To turn into a consumer.
2. (transitive) To make suitable for mass consumption; to convert to a consumer-oriented product or service (as when an industrial, professional, or business-to-business product or service enters the consumer market).

   Mechanical refrigeration and air conditioning were commercialized decades before they were consumerized.
