Etymology
From micro- (“small”, from Ancient Greek μῑκρός (mīkrós)) + Ancient Greek πλίνθος (plínthos, “brick”). Coined by Russian entomologist, palaeontologist and evolutionary biologist Vladimir Zherikhin in 1987.
